In an interesting poll conducted by the Columbus Dispatch, the question was asked "Should Ohio have a law giving equal rights to gay people in employment and housing?"

62% responded positively and 38% (it is Ohio after all) responded with a "No".

Here is a sample of the negative responses. That being said – I hope you will savor these as much as I have:

"I left Massachusetts because of the "Liberals" there! If this is starting to happen in Ohio, I will take my family and leave this state also and the state can deal with less taxes being collected from me. I will not have my two boys asking me why two men are kissing in public! This is eventually what happens. You cannot legislate and protect unnatural behavior plain and simple. I suggest that the author of this article and legislators read St. Thomas Aquinas' "Natural Law" to get a better understanding of what is happening in our country and the decline of the United States. A $9 trillion dollar deficit for an economy that has a GDP of $13 trillion. Go figure."

"Christ did not hate gays he hated sin and being gay is a sin. He loves everyone as we are his creation, he just does not like what we do to ourselves in the name of because it feels good. Some people say it feels good to do stuff to kids, its the same type of reprobate behavior."

"Sorry, but giving "rights" to life-style CHOICE, is so ludicrous. Where have we come? Where does it end? Have none of these idiots actually studied the Constitution and who it was developed. Blasphemy."

"Being gay is immoral and a deviant behavior/lifestyle."

"They already have equal rights! All they need to do is keep their mouths shut (no pun intended) and they are treated as everyone else. What's next? Give them total rights to be married together in the military so that they can live in military housing next door to married couples with kids? Give them all of the military benefits ie; medical, commisary, P.X. accompanied travel to other counties? And you wonder why we are hated in the Muslim world?"

"We don't need more laws, we need less. A good education, a good work ethic, a clean criminal record, and neat and proper personal dress and presentation will do more for equal employment than more laws."

"I object to granting "special rights" to any class of people. As a property owner, I feel I have the freedom to chose whom I rent to, without being told I "must" rent to in order to comply with bad law. I attend a church which believes homosexuality is a sin. If such a law is passed, my church could be forced to employ an individual against the will of the congregation."

"SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN why gay people insist on making an announcement about their status or sexual orientation? I'm a straight guy and I don't run around advertising that fact and I'm fine. Absolutely, gay people shouldn't deny who they are or resort hiding. Weather people are gay is really nobody's business at home or especially at work. Live and let live! True, discrimination will always be with us. But, perhaps if gay people stopped making an announcement about their status, nobody would know, people could mind their business and eventually everybody would just move on."
