Vanderbilt Frat Parties Too Hard, Lands In Jail

Vanderbilt Frat Parties Too Hard, Lands In Jail

A Vanderbilt frat got busted this weekend for being frat-like. After a party at the High Country Outfitters rafting company spun out of control, 51 fraternity members landed in the Polk County jail.

According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the company asked the Sigma Chi party-goers to tone it down, but the tone apparently stayed way, way up. You know the drill… anger ensued, cops were called and students were screwed. Now the frat guys are facing charges of underage drinking and disorderly conduct.

Thanks to warrants, it would seem that most of the arrested were 19 or 20 years old. This not only means trouble for the underage drinkers, but anyone who provided the goods. An investigation will look at where the partiers got the alcohol in the first place.

And if getting arrested wasn’t a big enough problem, the school and the big guys at Sigma Chi International will be investigating the incident as well. Vanderbilt spokeswoman Elizabeth Latt explains:

“If the investigation indicates action is warranted, the chapter and individuals will be held accountable for their behavior,” she said.

Uh oh, that never means good things for a Greek house. Before the punishment is served, Sigma Chi better get all their fun in now. Jail-themed party anyone? Too bad horizontal stripes are none too flattering.
