In two seemingly unrelated but inextricably linked pieces of news, as the United States is considering actually allowing marijuana use, other, less, ahem, liberated countries are proposing bans on certain "recreational"  behaviors--namely, Russia's outlawing of Emo and Goth music and Australia's blacklist against vaginal reconstruction surgery.

One would not expect to find many connections between Emo behavior and vaginal reconstruction, however, the two countries cites almost identical reasons against the two "crimes"

Australia: Vaginal reconstructuon is "dangerous, expensive and unwarranted", "particularly concerned that such surgery may exploit vulnerable women.'"

Russia: Emo behavior is a "dangerous teen trend", "negative ideology"of emo culture may push young people toward depression and social withdrawal, and the movement carries a significant risk of suicide, especially for young girls."

We find ourselves wondering about the statistics concerning suicide rates in emo-identifying women wkth reconstructed vaginas..
