Deplorable Diplomas

Deplorable Diplomas
Nobody's perfect, but there is a certain level of attention to detail usually involved in printing over 8,000 diplomas.

Unfortunately, UNC's 2007 diplomas were marred by a tragic MISprint: an apologetic email when out this summer to each grad, explaining that their "diploma misidentifies Madeline G. Levine as Interim Dean of the Professional School," when at that time she was in the School of Arts and Sciences.

Now, of course, they're reprinting all the diplomas, but they're also asking the graduates to send their misprinted diplomas back. The letter helpfully suggests that you "tear the diploma so that it fits into a regular envelope."

Why do they want it back? Maybe they're afraid that some imposter out there will think, "Double diploma, double credibility!"
