There are 18 bars/nightlife hotspots located in downtown Blacksburg, and only one of them is a 18+ venue, Oge-Chi's (O.C.).  Beginning this school semester, O.C is no longer letting unders in after midnight.  So where is the Under-Aged demographic supposed to get their groove on?  Well, I heard dance parties in your dorm room are all the rage these days.

It's bad enough that people under the age of 21 can't officially (legally) drink, but now they can't even grind with strangers.  It's still a mystery why O.C decided to do this but a couple of hypotheses could be reached.  Perhaps they're trying to enhance sales at the bar and having more unders in the club would just be a moot point.  Or, maybe they actually care about the safety of unders, thinking that they shouldn't be out at such late hours.  It is quite dangerous being around so many intoxicated people and O.C is looking out for the youth of America. 

Well, whatever the reason may be, it doesn't change the fact that a curfew has been set and midnight is it.  There are a couple of loopholes (other alternatives) if Downtown Blacksburg is still the desired destination for underagers.  They can hang out at all-ages "hip-happening" spots such as Jimmy John's, Moe's, Wendy's (Well, the restaurant closes at 10PM but the drive-through is still good and opened til 1AM) Taco Bell, oh, and don't forget Exxon. 

Hey, just remember, a good Friday Night is what you make of it, despite whether you're dancing to Usher downtown or in the comforts of your Hello Kitty themed dorm room.
