It feels like we’ve been talking about Hurricane Ike forever, no? First it was all “Watch out Miami students,” then it was like “Uh, oh New Orleans, here we go again.” Now, we’re issuing the warning to Texans. Watch out, Ike’s chewed up and spit out Cuba and seems to be heading to you next.
 

State officials are watching the storm closely and getting ready to make decisions about evacuations in the next coming days. The local ABC is reporting that the Office of Emergency management will decide about evacuating Galveston tomorrow and Brazoria County should make an announcement about special needs residents today. Students at Texas A&M in both Galveston and Corpus Christi face the possibility of being sent packing, at least temporarily.
 

But it’s not just those students directly in Ike’s angry path that are being affected. Statesman.com explains that the University of Texas may end up serving as an evacuation spot. While that’s all well and good, the influx of evacuees plus the weather may pose a problem for the Arkansas game scheduled for Saturday.
 

The LSU athletic department will also announce today where the LSU-North Texas game will be played on Saturday. The teams may be heading anywhere from Texas Stadium in Dallas to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta in case Baton Rouge is feeling Ike’s wrath.
 

Fans are eagerly awaiting a decision because the only thing that will get us through these months of storm scares and perpetual panic is college football...and college football cheerleaders.
