Today many seniors registered for the last time (*tear), and the rest of the week everyone else will be trying to get into the coolest sounding classes and attempting to find easier, more 'fun' ones as well.
Some general reminders for registration:
* Use the registration worksheet. It's there for a reason, and it helps you register faster.
* A couple of minutes before your time, get online, go to Webstac, and hit refresh every second [the F5 key is a good shortcut]
* When possible, take professors, not always just good-sounding courses
* That being said, remember that the people who write on sites like RateMyProfessors are usually extreme - they either had a really negative experience (ie didn't do well) or really loved a professor. Try the WUSTL course evaluations instead.
* Just because a class fits into your schedule does not mean it's a good idea to take it. Make sure it's something you would like/need anyway. I learned this the hard way.
* Everyone likes a day off, but if there is a class you need to take - or even one that just sounds amazing to you, for that matter - just take it. You'll be glad you did. College is not just about being able to go out on Thursdays and stay out as late as you want; it's about broadening your horizons and increasing your breadth and depth of knowledge. I think.
* That being said, it's great to have a day off (just don't plan to actually use it to be productive)
* Memorize your schedule - everyone will be asking about it!
* Have fun - try something new. Branch out. Don't take a class with anyone you know.
* Stay on the waitlist. There is a lot of time before Spring classes start. However, if there is a class of 15, and you're 37 on the waitlist, you might want to give it up. Order of preference for coming off the waitlist goes: majors, minors, then seniors, juniors, etc.
And lastly, don't forget to work on all of your requirements for majors, minors, and clusters (if you're in ArtSci). You can never do that stuff too soon.
Happy Registering!
