The Student Groups Building at 190 High Street has been home to several student groups over the years including: Hermes Magazine, the year book committee, Trans/Gender Group, and Spectrum (Queer People of Color at Wesleyan). Long Lane Farm began holding meetings in the space at the end of last semester and it appears that the group hopes to continue using the space this semester. Wesleyan's student-organized ESL program has also used the building to store materials and hold meetings and classes. The first floor of the building has several meeting rooms, a kitchen, and a large meeting room with an anti-oppression, radical library. In the basement, students can use paint and banner-sized paper to make large posters to hang in campus center to advertise their events and causes. 190 High Street could prove to be a great alternative meeting space to the new, and roundly disliked, campus center, Usdan. It will be exciting to see student groups take root in the space in the coming year.
