A Connecticut College Student at the Pitchfork Music Festival
Pot smoke fills the air. The crowd is about 50% hipsters, 40% wannabes, and 10% assorted jocks and popular kids. Experimentalish indie-rock music blasts from the speakers. Sounds like a typical party at Wesleyan, right?

WRONG. (Wasn't that intro clever? And did you catch the Mark Twain reference in the headline?) Actually, it was the 2007 Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, which I had the good fortune of attending. There was a sizeable Wes representation there to enjoy such artists as Sonic Youth, Dan Deacon, Yoko Ono, Grizzly Bear, Menomena, The New Pornographers, and my personal fave, Of Montreal. Their show was a phantasmagorical concoction of Kevin Barnes in drag, his wife in a skintight jumpsuit feeding applesauce blood to a giant burnt mashmallow creature that formerly had lots of Kevin Barnes heads, Darth Vader, and music. I echo Wesleying in hoping they will come back to Wesleyan and actually perform this time.
