Sophista-Funk is a project started by Jillian White and Tala Bouzarjomehri, both members of Wesleyan's (finest) Class of 2008. Their blog, sophista-funk.blogspot.com/, is a fun mix of fashion, art, and (of course) random songs, videos, and posts related to the Olympics. In other words, it's a pretty lively blog and it will be cool to see what Jill and Tala do with it in the future.
In their secret fashion lab, the two collaborators have a number of other blog-based life forms in development:
Trendology - http://trendology.wordpress.com/
HONEYCRATE - http://honeycrate.blogspot.com/
My favorite recent post on Sophista-Funk was written by Tala about graffiti in Iran:
"I love graffiti. There's just something about the rawness of street art that instantly hooks me- whether it be the artistry which beautifies unexpected places, or a unique stencil which pops up multiple times in a city, or around the world. The search for good street art and street artists is a passion of mine, a treasure hunt of sorts, which is always exciting and never seems to disappoint. That said, you might imagine my surprise when I learned about the up and coming graffiti/street art culture growing inside Iran's borders. With its rich history in the arts, specifically calligraphy, it only makes sense that this art form would make its way into Tehran's dusty and crowded streets."
