From coast to coast, the economy is making a quick decline down the toilet. From the biggest corporations to the local Mom and Pop’s, it seems no one can escape the evil grasp of the recession. It seems that even the higher learning system is being affected by the ever-plummeting economy. Quinnipiac has just announced that the upcoming year’s tuition will be going up and the University’s employment is going down as a hiring freeze has been put in place.

The Quinnipiac Chronicle reports:

The increase in undergraduate tuition, room and board, set for 4.87 percent, was approved by the Board of Trustees at its meeting on Dec. 9. This is the smallest increase in 20 years.

Lahey also imposed a "temporary" hiring freeze upon the university in regards to faculty and staff, and Cabinet members of the university have been asked to prepare recommendations for five percent reductions in operation and personnel.

The Board also approved a 15 percent increase in financial aid, "bringing this budget to its highest level as a percent of the total budget in 20 years," Lahey said.

The Quinnipiac community has officially joined the panic-stricken nation as the American dollah dollah bill is depleting. Hopefully our new prez can dig us ALL out of this financial crisis and steer us far, far away from the devastation of a depression.
