Everyone who goes to Wesleyan knows that when you search for anything having to do with "Wesleyan" on-line it's impossible to find what you're looking for! There are dozens of colleges and universities across the U.S. that use the word in their title, so searching for anything related to the 'original' Wesleyan is tough. I can only hope that my post about road-tripping through Nebraska adds to your Internet experience.

(I recommend watching the video on low volume because the wind is noisy and may be distracting. Do listen to the wind chime, however, because its sound is rustic, enchanting even. You want to go to Nebraska right now, don't you?)

Enjoy the sights and the sounds... I'll spare you the smells. I drove past several cattle ranches in Nebraska, the hazardous fumes from which nearly melted my eyebrows off when I stepped out of the car to have a look at the vast numbers of penned up cattle. The stench of manure was thick about them for miles around. I stood on top of my car to snap the photo included in this post and I almost passed out. I scrambled back into the car, but just opening the door for a few moments to get in and out allowed the stench to permeate the entire car. I had to drive with the windows down for hours before it finally dissipated.

Aside from the cattle ranches, Nebraska is beautiful in the early summer time. It's a surprisingly great place to go on a vacation, particularly after graduating college and/or moving to a crazy city like New York (I don't think I'm speaking for just myself here). I hope to make it back there one day. Until then, I have a few odd memories to share with you all.

In Nebraska...

I saw what must be two of the oldest anti-abortion billboards in the country. One of them has a depiction of three people sitting together next to the phrase "Each Life Is Precious." It seems straightforward, but the imagery has me pretty baffled. Look at the photo essay included with this post for more.

I went to Car Henge (you know, like "Stone Henge"?) and that's where the video I've included with this post is from. You can learn more about the awesome tourist-trap roadside attraction that is Car Henge at: www.carhenge.com.
