Wesleyan Nominated as PETA's Most Vegetarian-Friendly College: VOTE Now!

Wesleyan is currently up for the title as PETA's "Most Vegetarian-Friendly College" of 2008. While voting is still currently in Stage 1, Wesleyan has a good chance of placing in the top tier against our competitors such as Yale, Brandeis, SUNY Fredonia, Northwestern and UC Berkeley along with twenty-six other colleges nationwide. Currently, we are competing against the University of Rhode Island, SUNY Fredonia, and Brandeis.

PETA 2, the division focused on engaging high school and college- aged activists, hailed Wesleyan's commitment to its vegetarian and vegan meal options.

At a university legendary for its student activism (particularly with issues relating to sustainability, animal rights, and labor wages), the dining halls have responded by giving students what they want—amazing vegan options. With regular meat-free choices available at each dining hall, some of the many standouts include barbecue tempeh wraps, Moroccan-style chickpea and tomato stew, and seared tofu with broccoli over sticky rice.

Although Wesleyan did not place in last year's rounds, hopefully the University has a shot this year. Last year's winners were Northwestern, Yale, UC Berkeley, Humboldt State University, and the University of the Puget Sound.

So channel your inner cardinal and start voting! Voting ends November 6th.
