Western Kentucky University On Lockdown Following Gunfire Reports; Fortunately Updates Indicate No Guns Actually Fired

Western Kentucky University is on lockdown after police received unconfirmed reports of a shooting and weapons on campus.

It appears the reports are rooted in an altercation between students that took place at two locations, starting at the South Campus Building and then moving to Pearce Ford Tower, the university’s largest residence hall. Having interviewed witnesses, police have not been able to confirm whether weapons were involved or that shots were fired.

However, the school’s emergency warning system was activated as a precaution and students and employees were advised to remain indoors in secure locations. Since then, WKU has apprehended four individuals who are now in custody for questioning. A statement on the school’s website says:

Individuals are free to move about campus as needed. WKU officials say four individuals have been taken into custody for questioning. A news conference is scheduled for 4 pm CT at Mass Media and Technology Hall.

All main campus and BG Community College classes on South Campus have been canceled for the remainder of the day and this evening.

The South Campus building on Nashville Road was evacuated earlier following reports that one or more persons were observed in the building with weapons. WKU Police, Bowling Green Police and State Police have conducted an extensive search of the building and the premises.

Following this, WKU PD received an unconfirmed report of shots fired in the vicinity of Pearce Ford Tower on the WKU main campus.

Police have confirmed that there was a physical altercation not involving weapons between individuals that occurred in or near PFT, but the police are interviewing witnesses on the scene to determine if weapons were or are present, or if shots were fired.

Luckily, the situation seems under control and there are no serious injuries to report. It will only be a matter of time until we found out who these four males are and what the hell they were fighting about.

The incident at Western Kentucky spooks most people who realize the potential for a shooting incident following Cho Seung-Hui's cowardly shooting on the Virginia Tech campus.
Cho Seung-Hui's parents related that their son was diagnosed with a mental illness called selective mutism as a child but apparently was'nt given the proper training to cope with society leading to racism.
If any of you kids out their are going through the same stress its recommended that you pick up a copy of the book:
From Victim to Victor! By Alexander S. Holub Phd.
The book explains an important problem facing people in our technological society right now.
The feelings of victimization by an unfeeling, uncaring society.
The book explains how victimization develops than gives techniques for dealing with those feelings.

Recommend the book to your friends.
