Quinnipiac's List of 4 Good Shows With Bad Hosts

I hate reality TV but there are certain shows that are fun to watch, especially if they’re game shows. However, even some good shows are hard to sit through when there is a bad host. Here are four shows I would probably enjoy watching more if there were better hosts.

Iron Chef America: This is one of my favorite shows on the Food Network. There is something about the fast-paced culinary action and exotic foods that almost inspire me to want to learn how to cook. However, I cannot stand Alton Brown. He’s weird, haphazard and annoying. And don’t get me started on the back-flipping, eye-jabbing chairman who likes to yell and ask the same two questions of the chefs.

America’s Funniest Home Videos: My constant channel-flipping instantly stops whenever I come across this show on TV. From the adorable children who don’t yet understand embarrassment to grown men who make complete fools of themselves, this show always manages to make me laugh. What doesn’t? The show’s host. Tom Bergeron is so painfully unfunny, it makes the constantly replayed wipe-outs and hits to the groin seem like comic genius.

Millionaire: I loved the show when Regis Philbin was on. A history teacher from my middle school was even on the show and my 8th grade math teacher was her phone-a-friend lifeline! Now, Meredith Vieira is the host and with her came new lifelines that do more harm than good.

Family Feud: I first got into the show when Louie Anderson was the host. At the time, I didn’t like him because he had bad hair and a gap in his teeth. But when Richard Karn took over, I had a sudden appreciation for his predecessor. Now, John O’Hurley is the host and all I find myself focusing on is his huge and protruding chest.
