CCL, err...Bass Library, Back Online
Unfortunately, this photo of the newly renovated CCL was stolen from the YDN. However, the YDN printed this caption along with this picture: Students crowd into the newly renovated Bass Library, which opened tonight to great celebration and fanfare. Cries such as “Books, books, books!” and “We love books!” echoed throughout.

This is how things at Yale go: you donate a lot of money, they name something after you. The most recent example of this is the "Bass Library," the new name given to Cross-Campus Library (CCL) after the Bass family donated $13 million for the one-and-a-half-year long renovation. After 18 months, Calhoun and Berkeley students can now sleep past 7 a.m. because the construction is finally complete!

Much like YUHS is still called DUH after all these years, CCL will remain "CCL" to students. The grand opening of the library took place last night at midnight, modeled after the success of the midnight releases of Harry Potter books. (Note: This is further proof Yale is actually Hogwarts, or at least tries to be.)

The newly-renovated CCL also boasts "private" soundproof glass rooms with couches and plasma screen TVs, five (extraneous?!) entrances, and a sustainable food cafe. Hopefully this cafe will not serve apple tofu crisp or broccoflower.

Chances are, this library will be less for studying and more for high kids to go and eat food while watching TV on free plasma screens. This is only one of the many joys of attending an Ivy League institution.
