Breaking News: Gunshots Fired Near Yale Campus

Early this morning, several shots were fired at the Chapel and York Street intersection near Yale University. While the investigation is currently on-going, New Haven Police have detained one person in connection with the gunfire.

According to the Yale Daily News, no one was injured in the shooting, and as of the publication of their report, police have blockaded the scene with their vehicles while they continue their search for bullet casings and other clues.

The Yale University Art Gallery, the Digital Media Center for the Arts and the School of Art are all within a short walking distance of the crime scene, which has left many students and faculty members on edge today as they commute to and from these academic facilities.

New Haven is not the greatest neighborhood, and there's a lot of resentment between actual New Haven residents and Yale students because of the socio-economic stratification. Posted 10/13/2008 5:51 PMReply
