Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know that Yalies have been dueling in Old Campus Risk for the last month or so. The game ended this past Friday, October 19, and Team Durfee (Morse and TD) were the victors for the second year in a row.
If you're suffering from Risk-withdrawl and wondering what you're going to do with all your time, you have new message boards to post on and an even bigger playing board with GoCrossCampus, a new online gaming site created by a few ambitious Yalies.
The big question: Is GoCrossCampus sweeter than OC Risk? First impressions point to yes. Firstly, all the Ivy League schools are facing off, so it's not just about residential colleges. Secondly, the game interface is much nicer and has a number of ridiculous features, including the ability to vote on and impeach captains. Also, the problem of pesky teammates giving other colleges your team's game plan is solved by the introduction of "spy polls," where you can rat out a teammate as a spy.
So far, Yalies are pwning the competition with 460 of the 1000+ total players. Kind of awesome in the sense that we have a shot at winning the game, but also kind of embarrassing. Will the other schools catch up in participation? Is Yale actually the nerdiest school ever? We'll see what happens as the game unfolds in the next few days.
