Penn's Small But Meaningful Tribute to 9/11

Okay, so the above photo isn't exactly depicting Penn students in front of Claudia Cohen Hall. But Penn does commemorate 9/11 in its own little way: the lovely tradition of scattering small American flags all over College Green in honor of the tragedy. As the actual date (September 11, 2001) becomes more and more of a past event, it also seems to move deeper into the recesses of our national memory. It’s important, of course, not to forget. Just because our teachers no longer mention the Twin Towers in class on 9/11 doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. For those who want to attend, there will be a commemoration service tonight at 9 p.m. in front of the Benjamin Franklin statue.
