Yesterday, the YDN published a letter to the editor by Paul Streitz, co-director of CT Citizens for Immigration Control. This scathing letter attacks George W and Yale professor and founder of the New Haven ID Card Michael Wishnie for being tolerant of immigrants, calling their actions "unconstitutional."
He ends with this: "Yale has scholars who don’t think. They empathize. As a result, Yale University is what it is: a third rate institution mired in its delusional salad days of campus protests of the 1960s."
So, a points to consider, for Mr. Streitz (who will definitely read this):
1. Has it occurred to you that perhaps that the views of two people who are affiliated with Yale do not represent the views of all people at Yale? There are plenty of people (in fact, like 85% of the US - it's a stat) who hate George W, and that about half of Yale wasn't in favor of the New Haven ID card?
2. Regarding your argument, in general: Racism? Xenophobia?
3. Maybe not all of the 20 million illegal immigrants in the US want to kill the gringos... because we're helping them, too.
4. Also, illegal immigrants may also be people. FYI.
5. Thinking > empathy... perhaps you should go have a little chat with Harvey Mansfield.
In the comments section of the article, there is speculation by Yalies that this could be yet another Pundit prank, but the article is too poorly-written to be the product of a Yalie. Sorry guys, this one seems to be the real deal.
