Yale Bulldogs Demolish Princeton Tigers, Set Sights on Ivy League Title

Every year, the Yale-Princeton grudge match is hyped up to high heavens, and every year, it disappoints everyone who didn’t attend the pregame tailgate.

But, this year was different; for the first time in 71 years, the Yale Bulldogs shut out Princeton, striking a much needed blow to Princeton’s smug persona and keeping their hopes alive at securing the highly coveted Ivy League title.

Well, it’s “coveted” in the Ivies, at least – sort of.

The Yale Daily News reports:

In front of an announced crowd of only 5,711 on a rain-soaked afternoon, Brook Hart '11 connected with Jordan Forney '11 for a pair of touchdown passes.

Meanwhile, the Bulldog defense held firm for all four quarters. The unit held Princeton to 96 yards rushing and 57 yards passing, forced four turnovers and allowed the Tigers past midfield only four times -- twice for just one play.

"I think for the second week in a row, the game went the way we wanted it to go," head coach Jack Siedlecki said. "We didn't have any turnovers, they had two that we converted into touchdowns. … I just thought we played a complete game."

Princeton, on the other hand, was all over the map; they never made it past the 34th yard line.

Imagine a team of hulky men slipping and sliding around a field like their head was cut clean off their shoulders. It was worse than that.

Still, if Yale wants to secure the Ivy title, they need another big win next weekend. Until then, it’s a pipedream.
