Best Buy Making the Most Out of the Recession by Being Dicks

Best Buy Making the Most Out of the Recession by Being Dicks

I suppose it is possible to read this sign without sarcasm, but did they really expect anyone to? But now that Circuit City is bust, I'm sure it's helping them out a great deal, and I don't mean just because they don't have to price match any more. Who else is even competing with them for electronics superstore domination? J&R? Please.

But even Best Buy is hurting because of the economy because people are starting to realize that it's more adventageous to buy food than flatscreen TVs. Well, not in my house, but some people are doing that. But until they go bankrupt, they might as well keep laughing at their deceased competitors' expensed.

Only an idiot would read sarcasm in that. Best Buy can NOT honor Circuit City's price matching for obvious reasons. And as far as it being "unfortunate"? Yes, believe it or not...no one likes to see people lose their jobs. Wal Mart took over Circuit City's spot awhile back anyways.

Check the numbers

I must have a broken sarcasm detector, because all I'm seeing is a statement of policy. Best Buy matches competitor's prices, a liquidation company (Circuit City sold all their store inventory to a third party liquidator a couple weeks back) is not competition. Dial down the drama a notch, kid. Posted 02/04/2009 1:34 PMReply

Yeah, I'm not reading anything nasty here either. Posted 02/04/2009 2:20 PMReply

There are a LOT of people who would try and pull the old, "But your policy SAYS..." tactic. Trust me. I am surrounded by Mexicans. I know this. Posted 02/04/2009 2:21 PMReply

The reason it's there is because Circuit is now selling off all its merchandise via a liquidator. Basically getting whatever it can for its stuff before closing its doors for the last time. That is why Best Buy posted the sign, it will not match a liquidator's price.

Sometimes it's a bit easier to read a bit about a topic before posting a stupid headline on your blog.

What's the point of bringing race into this? You could make your point without it. @ Anonymous: Posted 02/04/2009 3:32 PMReply

I'm not offended, but they certainly could have phrased that a bit better. I'm sure some half-wit blue-shirt thought about that for 30 seconds before posting. Kinda like the person above who made the 'mexicans' comment. They're the real arsehole here. Posted 02/04/2009 5:07 PMReply

They're being dicks if you're a retarded baby who cries about everything. If they didn't have a sign like this up, some actual dicks would come in and say "WELL CIRCUIT CITY WAS SELLING A GEFORCE 9800 FOR FORTY DOLLARS, WHY DON'T YOU?!". And if they didn't say "Unfortunate closing", surely some half assed hacky website would call them out for being callous dicks.

Can't win, especially when shitty websites need content.

You're reading way too much into this. I guess the word "unfortunate" was what tripped your sarcasm sensors. Guess what? Many Best Buy employees really do think the Circuit City closing is unfortunate. Lots of us have friends working there. There are plenty of people who've left Best Buy and found jobs at Circuit, or vice versa. On Best Buy's internal message boards, you can find a few gloaters, but most of us feel sympathy for fellow retail workers who are losing their jobs. Posted 02/05/2009 4:15 PMReply

Just as Circuit City and Home Depot Expo are bitting the dust, We will all see price increases, less competition, fewer goods, the old supply and demand concept and back to the days of high prices. Remember when Electronics, Camera's. watches, and a lot of other things sold for "Retail". Posted 02/09/2009 4:27 PMReply
