Before there were gossip blogs, there were still celebrity scandals. An Iowa-educated actress whose career spanned Hollywood and France, she sadly committed suicide at 41 in Paris, which cemented her as an icon in the minds of many.

Penn State – Lara Spencer (1981)

She now hosts The Insider on E!, but most won’t know that she used to be a competitive diver at Penn State.

Wisconsin – Tamara Braun (1993)

A psych major at UW, she’s now a soap star who’s had large roles in both General Hospital and Days of Our Lives.
