Jacques Rickerson had a bright future as a UF football player until dashing his chances with the team by getting arrested for slapping, choking, and suffocating his girlfriend. The second-year student had played eight games so far this season, with ten tackles and one interception.
According to the International Herald Tribune:
Florida cornerback Jacques Rickerson was kicked off the team Tuesday after he was arrested and accused of slapping his girlfriend, choking her and then covering her face with a pillow.
The 20-year-old sophomore from St. Augustine was charged with felon battery and being held in the Alachua County jail.
"Jacques Rickerson is no longer part of our team — that is not what our program is about," coach Urban Meyer said in a statement.
I’m personally always glad to hear that a college football program isn’t about domestic abuse. Best of luck to the Gators as they adapt to play with Rickerson.
