Visanthe Shiancoe: We hardly knew you a mere three days ago, but today I feel like we know you, we really know you.
But maybe we don’t know the whole truth about the penis peek-a-boo on Fox Sunday. Yesterday, it came out that Shiancoe wasn’t entirely upset about the incident, cheekily asking “How’d it look?”
Now, it’s coming out that perhaps the extra exposure wasn’t so much of an accident as it seems. Sure, Shiancoe’s agent acted appropriately regretful:
"He's embarrassed by all of this," said Tony Agnone, Shiancoe's agent. "He's sorry it got on TV. When you're in the locker room, you're not paying attention to cameras, and you think they're going to keep them up, above the waist."
Shiancoe, who was not available for comment Monday, was made aware of the slip-up Sunday night through several text messages from friends.
"He hopes people understand that it wasn't intentional on his part," Agnone said. "His greatest concern are the young fans, that they understand it's a locker room situation."
But Deadspin.com did some digging and what they found may indicate that Shiancoe’s not-so-regretful after all. Perhaps, and I emphasize the perhaps, Shiancoe flashed his naughty bits on purpose. Deadspin spoke with former NFLer Hugh Douglas who certainly believes the Viking was showing off:
On today's 610 WIP morning show in Philadelphia, Douglas revealed the not-so-shocking truth that football players sometimes drop their towels on purpose once they find out the media will be around. Douglas took my phone call (for once) and offered to expand, hence completing Deadspin's wall-to-wall dong reporting for the day.
I asked Hugh if he seriously thinks Visanthe Shiancoe knew the cameras were on while he was exposed and he said that while he was playing for the Eagles, it happened so often that it became a running joke.
…
HD: "I guarantee you Shiancoe or whatever his name is doesn't give a damn. And I guarantee you that if he's a single man, he's gonna get a lot more ass the next time he goes home."
HD: " I'd never even heard of the guy until this happened. And the more people that know about him now, well, he's not embarrassed about what they know about him. He thinks he's got it and — obviously he does — so he's proud of it."
I have heard the phrase “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.” I just didn’t realize some people would take it so… literally.
