Explanation for Hideous Monkey-Piglet

Lets all have our immature but necessary "EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWUUUUUUHHHHHHH".

You might have stumbled upon this little bit of news that's been popping up on various blogs. A piglet with a face resembling that of a monkey's was recently born in a small village in China.

Anonova seems to have been the first ones to break the story.

"[the owner] says the piglet looks just like a monkey, with two thin lips, a small nose and two big eyes. Its rear legs are also much longer than its forelegs, causing it to jump instead of walk."

The piglet was the only one of five piglets born with such features, so it completely rules out the idea of possible sperm donation by a primate.

A random commentor on the blog Neatorama named Spencer Holmes came up with a logical explanation:

"This looks like a simple case of cycloipa or holoprosencephaly, with a median eye (2 irises) and the proboscis/snout above the eye. This same thing happens to humans and other mammals. This piglet has nothing to do with a primate and is 100% piggy. This is most likely a result of a chromosomal disorder during gamete formation. Doing an image search for cyclopia will yield some interesting and similar (yet graphic) results, including the two irisis in one median eye." [Link]

I'll buy that reason. I'm not ready to accept inter-specie mating.
