I loved this!! I enjoy your honest candor and humor on what is a very real
life experience.. Thank you for sharing .. Please keep em’ coming
Love these videos find them super informative and motivational for me.
Which app do you log your food in? I tried to dowload the fitbit app to my
iPad but it doesn’t have one. I have been using the myfitnesspal app which
you can sync with your fitbit. I find that it has more of the foods I am
eating. Good luck on your journey your doing great! We just have to tell
ourselves that trying is half the battle we will get were we want to be
c schaan says
From listening to you .. You definitely seem like an all or nothing person
.. Switching from this mentality can be so hard ( i am a recovering
perfectionist ) what helps me is buying little stickers and putting them on
a calendar when i work out .. Then if i do have a rest day it doesn’t throw
me off my plan when i see how many stickers i have accumulated. sounds
cheesy but it works!
As I am hearing myself talking – we are so much alike 🙂 When food is in my
house (I mean mostly sweets) I am like – that’s an enemy that I have to
destroy hahahah and I eat all :))) Also portion control is a problem for me
too, and I started logging my food with an app after I watched your vid
when you showed that, then that lasted for only a week I think and I
stopped – plus I was feeling a bit guilty about it thinking – Melanie is
logging her food every day and you, Poli, are so lazy! :)))) Good luck
fixing the “problems”, I think you’ve lost good weight and you look great,
Lindsey M says
I’ve been on “rest days” for the past 8 years 😀 hahahaha! #notkidding! And
I’m impressed that the pretzel thins lasted 5 days in your house! They
barely make it 48 hours in mine! I really appreciate the video, Melanie!
Thanks for your genuine and honest representation of what reality looks
like for you!

Love u & ur content. U r not alone in ur struggles. I too will EAT it all
gone if it’s here. Eating out is hard. Even wiser choices. Because all
choices look so good when u don’t cook them or clean up. :). The for ur
transperency. Better actions next week:):).
You are not alone in the struggle of weight loss, this video soo reminded
me of myself :)
I’m the same way, no self control….definitely something I wish I could
Trish Y says
I’m right with ️ya Melanie! I do not have self control and struggle
everyday with my weight and calories! You are not alone and thank you for
being so honest about it
Becky Nelson says
I can see why it would be tough, I find myself snacking all day when I’m
home…so if I worked from home or was a SAHM, I would probably eat all the
time! Great job being aware and being honest with yourself….that is the
first step 🙂 Keep up the great work and you look beautiful no matter
Cynthia Prendergast says
You have made nice progress Melanie, and it sounds like you are very aware
of what works, and what doesn’t. It is always a work in progress isn’t it?
Taras Fitlife says
You should try iifym it allows you to track your macros and if you want
chocolate covered pretzels just fit them into your macros. This way you
don’t deprive yourself and go overboard.
Vera Vashchuk says
Good job Melanie. I have the same issues. Have to work hard, hard to lose
weight. Getting very lazy after the rest days. But I’m very lucky because
my husband supports me. Working out, eating.. We do all together.. Keep
doing it.. Even if you won’t lose a lot of weight, you’ll feel much
better… We’re not getting younger, unfortunaly…
Tell me about the rest days. I’m like you, one day becomes one week. I’m
still on my rest days.
Pj Bertsch says
Think about how happy you will be the next day when you do well the day
you’re on. Helps me when I remember that. Unfortunately, I forget to
remember it much of the time. Lol …
I’m pretty sure they put crack in those dark chocolate pretzels. Those are
my vice. As are Pepperidge Farm Double Chocolate Milanos, and those Milano
salted pretzel slices. I rarely buy those because I can (and have, though
not all at once) eat a bag in a day. Any other treat isn’t a big deal.
Is there any way to add you on my Fitbit?
Kathy McCoy says
This was so helpful and I can’t say anything new-that other viewers haven’t
already said… This was just SO HELPFUL! And your experience is so similar
to mine! I love your approach though, it’s so logical to just sit down and
identify what’s NOT working. I’m inspired so thank you and please keep
these videos coming ok? 🙂 xoKat
I think all of the topics you hit on are normal for so many people (myself
included). Sometimes it’s just a matter of taking stock and jumping back in
and it sounds like you are doing that. Keep on keeping on and thanks for
the reminder that so many of us have these struggles and are not alone:)
Kristen Kay says
Great video melanie! What doesnt work for me is working out at home while
athan is awake. He distracts & interrupts me big time. Also, keeping
unhealthy foods in the house (like you mentioned). If i had a bag of choc
covered pretzels they’d only last 2-3 days. I just go crazy (esp after
exercising I become ravenous).
Christy G. says
Love the fitness series! I just recently put My Fitness Pal as well as
Pacer on my iphone to start tracking calories and steps. It’s been eye
opening that’s for sure (first time calorie counter). Those silly little
apps really are motivating! 🙂 I’m always striving to at least reach 6k
steps, though I would love 10k if possible and a couple of days ago I was
over 12k. Though I’ve been extremely sore the last couple of days, but in
a good way I suppose! I walk the nature trails while the kiddos are at
school and in the afternoons and/or weekends, they will walk with me too.
I think your goal to lose one pound a week is very healthy! Thanks for
sharing with all of us.
Amy Gamble says
Girl in the getting healthy department I am right up our alley lol. I can
not stop working out or I’ll stop completely if I miss a day I’ll have to
do workouts at my house because my mind will be like oh hey its fun to not
work out lol. But I know this sounds weird but I pay for my membership at a
gym that’s a big motivator for me also of my candle money is going
somewhere other then candles then I pay attention you know? Plus I do work
out classes and that helps as well! I love this serious
I also have to track my food and calories in order to lose weight
J Basom says
You’re doing great. Everyone hits those bumps in weight lose. Many people
gain a little weight back. Be kind to yourself. Have an great week Debbie
Deborah Sutherland says
Oh my gosh, I just subbed and watch your colab with Jayme and seen this
vlog and thought to myself, this I have to watch because I am just starting
my health journey. Mind set is so important, goals however small are
needed. I am struggling with balance and just embarrassingly just uploaded
2 very raw videos of me, with the thought of if I put myself out there
maybe I will find like minded gals, and learn and support along the way.
STRESS is my # 1 trigger. Thanks so much for sharing.
