This was really good to watch Estee, I think sometimes we feel like we have
to be doing ‘it all’ to be healthy/fit. Gym four times a week, eating no
chocolate and when we do break these things we end up feeling really bad
and de-motivated. I really enjoyed this, it made me feel less bad about
myself! x

I’ve been trying to lose weight forever, also trying all kinds of diets,
and it never worked long time. Now I’m doing it the healthy way – and I’ve
lost 10kg! Watching your video inspired me to go on a run instead of
sitting around this Sunday 😉 #healthybutton

Hey Essie, I really enjoyed this video and it made me think a lot about
myself. I appreciated a lot your honesty about this topic, I’ve been
through that kind of journey: restricting calories, binge eating the meal
after or the day after, fad diets, yoyo diets,… I was all about that, I
was nearly obsessed to be honest, and now my body is a witness (of course)
of those terrible habits with stretch marks and some localised fat areas.
Like you, growing up I became more conscious about hewlthy eating and
health in general and active. I will certainly use the hashtag to maybe
inspire you to live a more positive life without the need to be too much
focused on meal times on how kuch to eat and what to eat.

Even though I am the most lazy person ever this got me motivated to move!
Thanks Essie

How would you recommend making healthy eating affordable? Because the
health food stuff can be really pricey especially for a uni student like
me? I love your videos Estée x
Lais Alvarim says
Can you or Aslan teach us how to make a homemade almond milk? Loved the
video, Estée. When you have that change of lifestyle, it’s not that
difficult to eat things more healthy. I used to love coke, then I decided
to drink more water instead, cause my body was clearly needing it, and now
I don’t even miss it. Sometimes in parties or restaurants I drink coke or
other soda and find it funny cause I can’t see why I was so crazy about
that hahaha I actually prefer water now, never imagined me saying that…
haha

I was not looking forward to this video ATL ALL because, like you said,
you’re not a workout expert and not a nutritionist and it always really
bugs me when people who don’t know much about it act like know it alls. I
think it effects me so much because I have been struggling with anorexia,
my body, the way I look at myself, food, exercise etc for years now. I’m 19
and food and exercise rule my life for 6 years now. I’ve spent a lot more
time learning about food and exercise than I have spent time on my actual
school work and idk how to explain it, but it just kind of bugs me when
people who haven’t been that into exercise and healthy food suddenly start
making those ”you should do this, you should eat this” videos. I don’t
know how to explain it, but it just does. Please people, don’t hate on me
for this, this is not the point of what I’m trying to say. What I wanted to
say is: This video wasn’t that bad at all. I really liked how you talked
about your past and how you kept telling that this was wat works for you
(and that you mentioned Cassey, I love her too). I don’t know if I am going
to watch the rest, because I often find videos like this pretty triggering,
but if they’ll be the same as this I think they’ll be pretty helpful for a
lot of people. I also wanted to say that I totally recognize how someone
loving you while knowing everything about you really can change your whole
life. I agree with you that it doesn’t mean that you need someone to make
you happy. I also don’t really know how to explain it, it just changes the
way you look at so many things and you needed that change in order to feel
happy. Or something. Anyway, good luck with this healthier lifestyle. I
hope you keep it up :)

This video is great and I’m super stoked that you’re getting to like
exercise. I am now thinking about how one would clean a metal straw.
Emma Lindvall says
I LOVED that this was a “health” video, not a “weight loss” one. I’ve seen
a few of those, and I had the same sort of experience as Essie as a
teenager, which then became an eating distorder. Those weight loss videos
upset me, because they often don’t seem to come from a healthy place (and
are quite triggering), and that makes me sad. It’s really difficult coming
from those experiences and then starting to like health and fitness because
they remind you of so many bad memories. Good luck to Essie and everyone
else who’s staring to come to terms with this whole subject!
missreia says
So the holidays are around the corner and I find that’s such a tough time
to keep motivated with healthy choices – do you plan on keeping this new
healthier Estée all throughout that time, or do you think you’re going to
indulge temporarily?
Anascissors says
Well, the part that Aslan influenced your nutrition habits was not a
surprise for me. Anyone who watches your vlogs should have figured that
out. You always joke how you like(d) fast food before and we all know what
Aslan’s habits are. Btw, i would like to know if you have any problems in
your life? Doubts, bad days, sadness, negative thoughts? I’m just asking,
everybody does, cuz lately it seems like you’re always happy and satisfied,
honestly i can’t relate with you anymore. I don’t want you to be unhappy 🙂
But we all have our bad days, and to me it seems like everything’s perfect
in your life and it makes me jelaous and feel worse about my life.

You are so right!! Counting calories and restricting food is not a healthy
realistic option! you should be able to eat as much as you want! I am a low
fat vegan and i eat as much as i want!!, IT SAVED ME!! I had the exact same
thought as 8 years old (the sawing of the belly thing 😉 ) and it has been
a downwards spiral sinds then. But try the vegan thing it is amazing !
freeleethebananagirl here on youtube is amazing, go check her out! lots of

My story was pretty much the same growing up, except for when I found my
‘Aslan’ we were about to get more intimate and he saw a bit of a stomach
roll and cut the stuff off and left me for good. As a souvenir from that
experience I started to develop bulimia and even though I don’t struggle
with food any more because of all the shiz I ended up with a sever
depression and anxiety which I am still struggling nowadays. Not fitting in
my entire life, finally find someone who liked me, feeling so pumped about
it and being ditched because of my weight led me to depression. If I could
talk to younger me I’d say: Just because this a**hole thinks you’re fat and
makes you feel you unwanted it is not the end of the world. Love yourself
first, Helena and eff them all if that’s what it takes. That would have
kept me at bay from psichyatrists.
JessicaHeartsALot says
I love how real you are! I’ve been struggling to eat right and motivating
myself to work out because I feel like if I don’t work out more days than
not then I’m not doing enough, but then I get stressed out trying to fit in
the workouts and just quit them all together. I think I’ll make it my goal
to work out twice a week! Thanks for the inspiration!
